Philadelphia police are investigating a hate crime that happened Thursday night in the Kensington and Fishtown sections of the city.

Three cars were painted with graffiti that included a swastika and "KKK."

One of the cars belongs to City Councilman Darryl Clark.

The councilman said another car belonged to an assistant's family member.

The cars were dusted for fingerprints.

SANTA MARIA - Vandals left swastikas and other racial slurs in red spray paint on the northbound side of the Santa Maria levee just hours before the start of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies say it’s not the first time something like this has happened.

Just four days ago on Friday, the department sent a crew to clean up similar graffiti in the same area.

Members of the congregation at Temple Beth El say they’re shocked.

Rick Feldman attended service Monday night and says "If they're going to select a day, this cannot be done by somebody at random; this is definitely a hate crime."

Suzanne Levy who was also there to celebrate the high holiday says whoever is responsible should "Think about your own cultures history, and anytime your own culture has experienced any kind of intolerance, think about how that would make you feel if you were a victim of that before you do it to other people."

Swastika Painted On Sign At Local Temple

NEWTON, Mass. -- Police in Newton were patrolling the area around Temple Shalom Saturday after a swastika was spray-painted on a sign there overnight, according to the Boston Globe.

Teenagers and parents worshipping at a ceremony in the temple noticed the symbol and notified Rabbi Eric Gurvi$
, who condemned the action during his sermon.

"There is a collective sense at a troubled time that we need to be optimistic and try to make things better," he told the paper, paraphrasing his remarks. "Something like this reminds you how much more there is to do, and on how many fronts."

Newton Mayor David Cohen
came to the temple and sat through services to show his support, Gurvis told the Globe, as did Richard Malmberg, pastor of the Second Church of Newton.

“Even if it was a prank, it’s not funny. It’s a hate crime,†Gurvis said.

Jail Time for Hateful Graffiti

A hate crime is the reason a 19 year old will spend her Christmas in jail.

Nora Rynkeiwicz of Factoryville learned Monday that she will spend months behind bars for painting hateful graffiti on a house of worship.

After two hours of testimony the sentencing hearing for Rynkeiwicz ended like with her in handcuffs, hauled off to the Luzerne County jail.

Rynkeiwicz admitted to helping another woman paint swastikas on the Ohav Zedek Synagogue in Wilkes-Barre in March.

"It disgusted everyone. It hurt. It was the feeling that this should not be happening in this day and age," said Rabbi Nachman Bruce of Ohav Zedek Synagogue.

Despite Rynkeiwicz's apologies to the Jewish community, testimony from her doctors saying she's mentally ill wasn't enough for a judge to let her go back home. Rynkeiwicz will now spend nine to 18 months behind bars and must pay back more than $4,000 in restitution.

"The whole situation from our perspective is terribly unfortunate. We hope that Nora is rehabilitated, that the court sentence to be imposed is helpful to her in her future," said Murray Ufberg of Ohav Zedek Synagogue.

Rynkeiwicz also told the judge Monday she's been trying to learn more about the Jewish faith by visiting a Holocaust museum and reading The Diary of Anne Frank. Even so, he told the young woman he wasn't convinced she's ready to reshape her life or give up her anti-Semitic behavior.

The 19 year old's mother also apologized for her daughter's actions and said, "Nora is a good person inside."

“Was it bored children or older people that have an agenda, we don’t know," Federation President Sherry Dreyfuss
said.

She said the federation has contacted police and the Anti-Defamation League. She said the group also debated co
ntacting the media about the vandalism, but ultimately decided that they should get the word out.

“Not to validate what some kooks did, but to let the community know that this is what is happening," she said.

Rockford Deputy Police Chief Greg Lindmark said police are investigating and looking into the possibility that the graffiti could constitute a hate crime.

Was Stalin planning to attack Hitler?

The below was sent to me by one who tends to believe many conspiracy type theories. I ask for comment from those who are familiar with this thesis that Stalin was planning to attack Hitler.

Fourteen Days that Saved the World

Paul Ballard

”’The Nazi command succeeded in forestalling our troops literally two weeks before the war began.’ General S. P. Ivanov, Chief of the General Staff Academy of the Armed Forces of the USSR, 1974.

The critical moment of World War Two – if not of the twentieth century – is generally regarded as Adolf Hitler's decision in 1941 to launch an unprovoked assault upon a hitherto neutral and peaceful Soviet Union. Operation Barbarossa, as it was called, is perceived as the great tactical mistake which doomed Nazi Germany to defeat. Icebreaker, by Russian historian Victor Suvorov, exposes this scenario as nonsense. This extensively researched piece of historical revisionism provides compelling evidence that Operation Bar
barossa was a reluctant pre-emptive strike against a massive Soviet military machine which was at that time poised to invade not just Germany, but the whole of Western Europe.

Suvorov quotes top secret Soviet documents which make it crystal clear that Soviet military theory was based on offence and the conquest of territory "for the World revolution." And this theoretical plan for offensive war was matched by practical preparations in every branch of the armed forces.
In 1939, when Britain declared war on Germany, Hitler came into the war with a total of 3,195 tanks, fewer than the Kharkov works in the Soviet Union was producing every six months on a "peace-time" footing. The Kharkov works produced the BT high speed tank which was capable of 100km/h and had a range of 700km. Based on a design by the American tank genius J. W. Christie, these tanks had their engine and transmission systems at the rear and were twenty-five years ahead of their time. By 1936, BT tanks were fording deep rivers underwa
ter and driving along river beds.
On unmade roads the BT operated (although not very effectively) on heavy tracks, but once on good roads, the tracks were discarded and the tank raced ahead on wheels. The only real roads were to be found in western Europe, in particular the German autobahn network, for which the tanks were intended. The claim that Stalin's tanks were not ready for war is not true; they were not ready for a defensive war.

The same applied to Soviet aircraft in both numbers and quality. Communist falsifiers in the post-war period claimed that although the Soviet Union had many aircraft, they were inferior. In fact, the most heavily armed fighter in the world in 1939 was the Russian Polikarov I-16; the type 17 had two synchronised 7.62mm machine-guns and two 20mm cannons mounted on the wings, conferring a weight of fire twice that of the Messerschmitt 109E-1, and nearly three times that of the Spitfire 1.

Rocket First

Soviet aircraft builders created a plane,
unique in the world, which had an armoured fusilage. The IL-2 was virtually a flying tank with extremely high powered weaponry, including eight rocket launchers. Soviet planes were the first in the world to use rockets in combat.

The fatal weakness in this formidable airforce was that none of its pilots had been trained for dog-fights with enemy planes. The Soviet battle plan relied on a massive surprise attack to knock out the enemy airforce on the ground in the first few hours of the war. By mid-June 1941, in final preparation for such a blow, Stalin's planes themselves presented an ideal target, packed wingtip to wingtip on temporary airstrips immediately behind the front line, rather than being dispersed several hundred miles to the rear as they would have been in preparation for a defensive war.

Likewise, airborne assault troops are only useful to an aggressor. Countries concerned with defence need very few. Hitler had created only 4,000 paratroopers by 1939, but Stalin already had more
than a million – 200 times more than the rest of the world, including Germany, put together. There were 10 Corps, each supported by airborne artillery and even battalions of light amphibious tanks.

Soviet engineers were also hoping to land hundreds, or even thousands, of tanks in the West. Antonov, the aircraft designer, suggested that the ordinary tank be fitted with wings and a tail with its hull used as the framework. The tank crew controlled the flight by turning the turret and raising the barrel of the cannon! The entire construction of the KT was astonishingly simple. The risks of flying it even the short path between being dropped from a plane and landing on the ground were unusually great, but human life was cheap to Stalin. The idea was that just before landing the tank engine was started up and the tracks made to revolve at maximum speed. The KT then landed on its tracks and gradually braked. It is claimed that prototypes were actually flown but, like the million paratroopers, they were no
use in the unexpected defensive war started by the German invasion.

Once the paratroopers had seized key points and airfields, the Soviet plan then called for huge numbers of reinforcements to be flown in. As well as building massive numbers of C-47 (Dakota) heavy transport planes under licence from the U. S. government, Stalin ordered a huge glider building programme. The ten different designs included Antonov's multi-seater assault glider the A-7 and the KZ-20, which could carry twenty soldiers.
The human cost of this extravagant military expansion was horrific. Having sold Russia's artistic treasures and vast reserves of gold, platinum and diamonds, the Bolsheviks began their notorious collectivisation programme. The peasants were driven into collective farms so that crops could be taken from them without payment. Ten to sixteen million died from the collectivisation and the resulting famine, compared with 2.5 million Russians in World War One. Yet Stalin sold five million tons of grain abro
ad every year.

Stalin Line

Some of the money was spent on the thirteen fortified regions which were built along the Soviet Union's western frontier, in a strip of territory unofficially called the Stalin Line. A complex system of combat and supply installations, armoured and built of concrete, was constructed along the 30-50km deep zone; there were also reinforced concrete underground premises to serve as storage depots and command posts.

The fortified regions were built with enormous effort and vast expense during the first two Five Year Plans. In 1938 it was decided to reinforce each region by building heavy artillery carponiers. More than a thousand combat installations a year were concreted into the region.

In 1939 the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was signed. Once Poland had been partitioned there was no longer a neutral buffer zone. Stalin could have ordered the garrisons on the line to be strengthened and additional belts of fortified zones could have been constructed
behind and in front of the existing line. But in fact the existing fortified regions were dismantled. Some military buildings were handed over to collective farms for vegetable storage, but most were buried or dismantled. In the spring of 1941 powerful explosions thundered across the 1,200km line as armoured firing positions were blown up.

The reason was simple: Stalin had decided to spread Bolshevism westwards, and the belt of fortifications would have blocked supply routes, creating dangerous bottlenecks for the millions of tons of ammunition, food supplies and fuel needed for the offensive.

Only a week after the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was signed, Stalin played his first dirty trick. Hitler began the war with Poland as they had agreed, but Stalin claimed that he was not yet ready. Hitler found himself on his own, and immediately at war with France and Britain as well. Meanwhile, Stalin marked the conclusion of this "non-aggression" treaty by introducing general military service.

A n
ew "defensive" line was started in partitioned Poland, but although constructed very slowly and visibly, it remained a comparatively light and uncomplicated series of fortifications. Mines were removed from the vicinity of bridges and mile after mile of barbed wire was cut. Unnecessary bridges across rivers on the new frontier remained intact, and later greatly aided the German advance.

In the spring of 1941, the Germans began similar preparations. Both sides erected offensive fortifications. Before launching an attack great masses of troops would have to be concentrated in very narrow sectors: German troops in the Suwalki and Lublin salients and Soviet troops in the areas of Lvov and Bialystok. In order to assemble these shock groupings the secondary sectors were denuded of troops – the lightweight fortifications prevented them from being completely exposed.

With, by 1941, the last obstacles to the Red advance removed, the Soviet Union possessed thirty separate armies. This was the largest
military force the world had ever seen and it could not be maintained for long without mass starvation. The plundering of neighbouring countries would have been the only means of paying for and justifying such a force.

Many of the best armies were not deployed to fight Germany but to invade virtually defenceless neutral states, as Stalin had already done throughout Eastern Europe. The 9th army was concentrated on the frontier with Rumania and an assault crossing of the Danube was planned by its 14th Rifle Corps. The 12th and 18th "mountain armies" were positioned to move south-west along the Carpathian mountains to cut Germany off from the Ploesti oilfield in Rumania and west into Czechoslovakia, which would enable Stalin to cut the Rumania-Germany oil pipeline. Without this irreplaceable Rumanian oil, the tanks, lorries, submarines, battleships and planes which were massed far away to the west would simply grind to a halt.

The seven armies in the Second Strategic Echelon included many thousan
ds of men who had been released from concentration camps that spring to expiate their "guilt" by fighting for the Soviets. The generals and officers were also usually former political prisoners and were desperate to prove their worth. Their lives and those of their families were at stake. They were known as the "Black Divisions" because many still wore their black Gulag uniforms. The most powerful of the Second Echelon armies was the 19th, which was transferred from the North Caucasus to approximately 150km north of the Black Sea. It contained mountain rifle divisions which could also be used in Rumania. They were making their way to the frontier when Germany invaded.
They were not alone. In the final preparations for the attack on the West, millions of soldiers were still heading for the front in trains. Very often their ammunition and heavy weapons were being transported separately. Huge supply dumps were stockpiled just a few miles from the German lines. Most of the airforce were similarly exposed. For
a few critical days, Stalin's mighty invasion force was incapable of defending itself.

Stalin believed that he had convinced Hitler that the Soviet Union was truly neutral and assumed that the Germans were busy finalising an invasion of Britain. Hitler's conquests had created an unprecedented situation in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Yugoslavia, France, Greece and Albania. Their armies, governments, parliaments and political parties had been destroyed. Stalin's huge armies were in an ideal position to take over Europe, but Hitler guessed Stalin's design so that even in 1945 the Soviets only got half of Europe, and some territory in Asia.
At a Politburo meeting on 21st June 1941 G. R. U. (Military Intelligence) chief General Golikov reported that there was a massive concentration of the German airforce on the Soviet border, enormous reserves of ammunition and a regrouping of German forces. He even knew the name of the operation – Barbarossa.

Frozen Wastes

Yet Stalin at first refused to believe what was happening. He had established a sophisticated intelligence network to give him long advance warning of a decision by Hitler to wage war in the frozen wastes of Russia. His key indicators were breathtakingly simple. For an army to survive the winter, every man would need to possess a thick sheepskin greatcoat. Soviet agents therefore kept a close watch for a sudden rise in the demand for sheepskins and a fall in the price of mutton as slaughter was stepped up. Meanwhile, other agents scoured rifle ranges for scraps of cloth used by German soldiers to clean their weapons. Soviet chemists then analysed them in order to find out whether the Germans had developed a gun oil which would not freeze in harsh weather. There was still no sign of such an oil – or of a non-freezing engine oil – in June 1941, so Stalin was convinced that Hitler had no intention of attacking him. Hitler would have his forces concentrated in France, or even figh
ting in England, as the Red Army cut off their only source of fuel oil, crashed into a virtually undefended Reich and then "liberated" the whole of Western Europe.

Hitler, of course, had not ordered such preparations because he had not planned on a war against Russia. Only in the spring of 1941 did intelligence reports of troop concentrations and Soviet moves to cut Germany's oil lifeline with Rumania force Hitler to take the desperate chance of opening a second front with a hasty pre-emptive strike.

Initially at least, the gamble paid off. Caught in transit or crammed together in their own start-off positions, whole Soviet armies were annihilated. Most of the airforce was destroyed on the ground. The thousands of lightly armoured assault tanks were virtually helpless, and forced to operate in the roadless wastes of Russia they were easily out-manoeuvred by the Germans' conventional cross-country tanks.

All this makes Icebreaker the definitive account of the build up to Operation Gro
za ("Thunderstorm") – the Soviet conquest of Europe scheduled to begin early in the morning of Sunday 6 July 1941. Suvorov's revelations about the massive expansion of the NKVD (the blood-soaked forerunner of the KGB) are particularly chilling: these killers would have moved behind the assault troops to liquidate "class enemies." The Bolshevik torture chambers and death pits which claimed millions of victims in the enslaved nations of the East would have spread throughout the West as well.

With Germany and France under the Soviet jackboot, Italy and Spain would quickly have fallen too. And Stalin's one million paratroopers would have made short work of seizing the airfields of southern England to clear the way for a full-scale invasion.

Lenin and his pupil Stalin never made any secret of their desire for a Second World War to establish a Communist Europe. For the fact that this monstrous plan failed, the pseudo-democrats, simpering priests and court historians have no-one to thank but Adolf
Hitler. If it had not been for the man they love to hate, they would have been the first against the wall.

Feds probing swastika at SJ school
Friday, March 20, 2009 | 5:17 PM
By Karina Rusk

SAN JOSE, CA (KGO) -- The FBI is now involved in the investigation of a series of disturbing incidents at Evergreen Valley High School in San Jose. One case of vandalism involved a 20-foot wide swastika burned into the school's front lawn with road salt. Another incident prompted an evacuation.

An unnerving week came to a close today in San Jose at Evergreen Valley High School. Police want help in find those responsible for a series of disturbing incidents.

The latest was a swastika burned into the lawn with salt that led to rumors there would be violence on campus today.

Teenagers today have MySpace, Facebook and text messaging. That's how one rumor quickly gripped an
entire school with fear.

"Everybody posted their own versions of it, but the main point was that there was suppose to be a shooting at school and there was a chain link of messages going around," said senior Randy Haas.

The panic at Evergreen Valley High School was fueled by a series of incidents. Over the weekend, someone used salt to etch a 20-foot swastika into a prominent lawn area.

It was being reseeded today even as the area's councilwoman came by to show her support.

"I think anytime you have a swastika, I happen to be Jewish, so a swastika is very offensive to me personally. But I do think sometimes people do things to get attention," said San Jose Councilwoman Rose Herrera.

Another attention getter -- 13 young trees were chopped down early Sunday morning. Now there is just holes in the ground.

And on Tuesday, several envelopes arrived at the school prompting the evacuation of the administration building.

"The person who does our mail one of th
em was addressed to her, she opened it and there was power inside," said Principal Cari Vaeth.

The white powder later proved to be harmless but all of this was the backdrop for Friday's rumors.

Extra police officers were called in as a precaution, but still about 35 percent of the school's 2,600 students didn't show up for class today.

"It's caused a lot of havoc, it's caused a lot of fear in parents and it's disrupted a lot of people's lives," said parent Rosemary Casto.

The district says if anyone is arrested in connection with the incidents, it will push for the fullest prosecution available under the law.

Swastikas painted on Holocaust memorial

Large black swastikas were painted on a French Holocaust memorial. A video surveillance camera caught a young, "European"-looking man drawing swastikas on the wagon commemorating more than 70,000 Jews detained in the northern Paris town of Drancy, and deported to Nazi death camps during World War II, according to French reports.

The French Jewish community and the Ministry of the Interior strongly condemned the crime in separate statements.

The perpetrators "wanted to spit on Jews deported to Drancy," said the CRIF Jewish umbrella group in a statement. "They also wanted to insult Jews who celebrate Passover" and "all of France," the statement said.

Interior Minister Michele Alliot- Marie promised that "every means" was being used to find those respon
sible.

By the next morning the memorial, which includes a World War II-era wagon and a large stone plaque and statue, was repainted and cleaned, the daily Le Parisien reported.

Merced woman finds swastika burned into her lawn

MERCED - A woman in North Merced discovered in the center of her lawn a four-foot swastika burned with some sort of chemical.

"I just can't believe this," 69-year-old Francis Martin, who is black, said Thursday. "They don't want me here. To me, these are hate messages. That's what I get out of it."

Merced Police Department investigators are deeming it a hate crime. The vandalism, a misdemeanor, carries a penalty of up to a year in jail or up to a $5,000 fine or both, Cmdr. Floyd Higdon said.

She said she's seen other black residents in the area and has found her immediate neighbors friendly.

Her son mowed the lawn Wednesday night. When he was done, she noticed th
e dead grass. On a closer look, she realized it was the emblem of the Nazi party which is often used by white supremacists.

The police officer who responded to the call noticed a second, smaller swastika in the bottom right corner of the lawn.

"People need to know these things go on," she said. "To me, it's serious. I'm frightened."

She said this is the first time anything like this has happened to her.

Swastikas left at Jewish homes in Crystal Lake

Police are investigating two cases of graffiti vandalism in Crystal Lake, where swastikas were spray painted on a garage door of a house and on the sidewalk in front of another home.

The symbol on the garage door in the 900 block of Boxwood Drive was discovered Sunday, Deputy Police Chief Dennis Harris said today.

About 4ÔšÃ”š½ miles away, a swastika was painted last week in black on a sidewalk in front of a house in the 100 block of Crystal Ridge Drive.

The families who live at both homes are Jewish, police said.

"Whether or not [the incidents] are related is speculative," said Harris, adding police continue to investigate.

No one was in custody as of early today, he said.

Synagogue Hit With Hate Graffiti

PHILADELPHIA - Police are looking for the person responsible for spray painting a hateful symbol on the wall of a Northeast Philadelphia synagogue.

Someone painted a swastika on the wall of the congregation of Ner Zedek Synagogue, located on Bustleton Avenue.

Investigators believe the incident happened between 10 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday. Congregation members riding by Monday morning found it.

Some synagogue leaders think kids may be behind it. They say teens bike and skateboard off the synagogue's steps all the time, reported Fox 29’s Shawnette Wilson. This hasn't happened at this particular p
lace of worship in 30 years and no other incidents have been reported in the area. Still, congregation members say it is extremely disturbing.

The unsettling symbol is just feet way from the front door.

"It's a little upsetting. We're a very older congregation and we do have a lot of the Holocaust survivors as congregants and we know that would be very upsetting to them,â┚¬ says Terrie Bass of Congregation Ner Zedek.

Marvin Munstein, one of the congregation's presidents, can't stop asking the question: "Why, why, why?"

He believes kids may have done it, but says it's no excuse. He says a symbol like that can only be perceived one way.

"It's really a sure sign of antisemitism," says Munstein.

In fact, Munstein says it's scary, especially after what happened in New York a little more than a week ago. Four men were arrested, suspected of plotting to bomb synagogues there.

Munstein has one thing to say to whoever vandalized a sacred place. "They ought to be
terribly ashamed of themselves. Because I'm not going to say it's an act of terrorism, but it could lead to an act of terrorism and it has to stop."

Philadelphia police say the investigation has been turned over to its Conflict Resolution Unit.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Racist graffiti found on the Southwest Side
June 23, 2009
By ANNIE SWEENEY Crime Reporter

For the third time in a week, racist graffiti has been found in neighborhoods on the Southwest Side.

Early Monday, two Nazi swastikas were found on a dumpster near Kennedy Park at 11320 S. Western, police said.

That follows the June 16 tagging of a swastika and racist messages, one on a residential garage in the 10800 block of South Whipple and the other behind a business in the 11000 block of South Kedzie.

The Whipple incident included a swastika and a racial slur; the Kedzie incident had a racial message and what appeared to be a pitchfork, police said.

Both of those incidents are already under investigation by Chicago Police hate cri
mes investigators.

Monday's discovery also has been referred to the unit, police said. Police also called the incidents unusual and said there is no way to tell yet whether they are connected, especially because Monday's graffiti was found about a mile away.

Brooklyn Park Salon Vandalized With Racist Graffiti

The incident happened at the Heavenly Hands Barbershop and Beauty Salon. Sharanda Brown likes to think of her hair salon as a community gathering place.

Story.jpg

A place where you could come to let your hair down and chat a while you were getting it done up. But it appears that someone in the Brooklyn Park community didn't like that idea.

'When I saw the window I could deal with that then you step in and smell the fumes and had to step back out until they clear it and come in and see the damage that was done.' Brown says.

T
he swastikas are the only thing we can show you. The actual writing on the wall speaks derogatory things about Blacks and Asians.

A computer, a tattoo machine and other objects were stolen. And a strong smelling flammable liquid was sprayed on everything....from the hair dryers to the floor.

'For this to happen here this should have happened this is a multi cultural area and if you’re in this area thinking like that you're in the wrong place’ Brown says.

County police are investigating this as a racial or ethnic crime and may step up patrols in this area.

But for now they have few leads. As for Brown it's just a set back....but she's staying. She says she owes it to her customers and friends to come back better than before.

”˜I prayed and thought about it I'm not going to leave because that's what they want. I'm gonna be here I built relationships here they're not just my clients but my family and I'm not going to leave them because somebody's ignorant.' Br
own says.

Georgia Congresscoon Who Hosted Rowdy Town Hall Finds Office Vandalized
August 11, 2009

A Georgia congressman who faced down a rowdy town hall meeting last week found his office vandalized Tuesday with a swastika painted over the official congressional sign.

Rep. David Scott told FOX News that the swastika spray-painted in black on his office door in Smyrna, Ga., is about four feet by four feet wide.

Cobb County police were informed and a report was filed with the U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI. David Johnson, Scott's district director, said the Capitol Police are handling thi
s incident as a hate crime.

Johnson said he suspects the incident happened between the office's closing on Monday night and opening on Tuesday.

A series of alledged antisemitic attacks are being investigated by police in a Welsh seaside town where strictly Orthodox Jews were on holiday.

Officers in Aberystwyth responded to reports of swastikas painted on grass and sheets of paper daubed with the Nazi symbol being scattered near a student village where dozens of Chasidic Jews were staying.

But Dyfed-Powys police said they had found no evidence of the grass incident and had received no complaints from the Jewish visitors.

On Sunday last week, 30 sheets of paper with swastikas printed on them were found on a road close to Ynyslas beach. It was thought they had been thrown from a window.

The following day, officers were told a swastika had been painted on grass outside a golf course in nearby Borth. But when officers went to the scene, they found n
o evidence and residents said they knew nothing about it.

The Cambrian News reported that witnesses had also seen a group of youths walking through the town centre making Heil Hitler salutes.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Officers were aware that a large number of Jewish people are visiting the area at present, but we’ve had no complaints from them.

“Obviously, the papers with the swastikas on them could have caused alarm and distress, therefore we are investigating.

“We would emphasise that hate crime and racial incidents will not be tolerated and appropriate action will be taken against any offenders.â┚¬

A Community Security Trust spokesman said: “These antisemitic incidents are a sad reminder of bigotry in our society and are to be condemned.â┚¬

Jewish center again tagged by hate

NEWPORT NEWS — For Kenny Murov, the sight of anti-Semitic graffiti at the United Jewish Community Center was depressingly familiar.

"Lightning has struck twice," said Murov, president of the United Jewish Community of the Virginia Peninsula.

On Thursday morning, four people were caught on surveillance video spray-painting swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti at the property on Spring Road.

Similar video surveillance last October caught a teenager wearing a Halloween mask entering a locked storage shed on the property of the center and spraying anti-Semitic graffiti. A juvenile was later arrested.

Four people sprayed swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti on the property. A trailer,
window and outdoor restroom were defaced between 4:20 and 4:40 a.m. Thursday, police spokesman Lou Thurston said.

The ages, genders and races of the suspects could not be determined from the images.

"It is disappointing," Murov said. "But we live in a very accepting and diverse community, and there are a lot of people from different religious and ethnic backgrounds. Who knows who's responsible, but I don't think it's a reflection of our society."

Murov was unsure of the motive behind the incident.

"We never know for sure the reasons," he said. "Everybody has the capacity to do something like this. It certainly has the fingerprints of juvenile conduct."

He said the graffiti on the building included the words "Hitler" and "burn," while swastikas were sprayed on the portable washroom.

Thurston said the teenager who was charged with last October's incident has been ruled out as a suspect.

This isn't the first time that this type of graffiti has appeared
on the Peninsula. Two 21-year-old York County men were arrested and charged with vandalizing several signs with spray-painted messages that apparently referenced a hate group.

The charges were connected to three Aug. 13 incidents in York County in which two Virginia Department of Transportation signs and a Queens Lake community sign were defaced with orange spray paint. All three signs had " KKK" scrawled across them, while one of the VDOT signs also contained a drawing of what appeared to be a noose.
