Cornwall-area teacher found guilty on three counts flowing from her sexual interference with 13-year-old boy

A Cornwall-area teacher was found guilty Thursday on all three counts flowing from her sexual interference with a 13-year-old boy in September 2004.

Jennifer Dorland will be sentenced on Feb. 25. She has been ordered to hand in her passport and remain in the provinces of Ontario and Manitoba, where her mother resides.

The 42-year-old blonde-haired woman sat motionless for 10 minutes in her seat at the defence table in the courtroom after which she began to cry softly while being consoled by her husband.

Justice Julie-Ann Parfett said she found the testimony of the young student who is now 17 "generally credible, unlike much of Mrs. Dorland's." Mrs. Dorland was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.

When the suspended junior high school teacher took the stand in her own defence she admitted that she had sent inappropriate e-mails to the former student, but denied she had engaged in a sexual relationship with the young male. Mrs. Dorland told court she never kissed or fondled the student or allowed him to touch her breasts and genitals.

However, Mrs. Dorland, 42, admitted her decision to engage in suggestive and sexual e-mail discussions with the former student, whose name is protected by a publication ban, has left her "embarrassed and ashamed." "It was absolutely a terrible, horrible idea.

I have been paying for that e-mail and conversation for two years," testified Mrs. Dorland, who, in one of the e-mails, told the student she loved groans and hands on her stomach. In the other e-mail, Mrs. Dorland asked the student if he has any regrets.

The former student had earlier testified the e-mail had been sent hours after he and the teacher kissed and fondled each other on a couch in the basement of Mrs. Dorland's home in September 2004.

The two e-mails, sent Sept. 11 and Sept. 22, 2004, were evidence in the six-day trial. Mrs. Dorland testified the first e-mail was in response to questions about how to treat and touch a woman, while the second had to do with the student's breakup with one girl and his interest in another older girl.

But on cross-examination, Crown prosecutor Jennifer Burke attacked Mrs. Dorland's explanation, questioning why a dedicated teacher would risk her job, marriage, two children and social life when she knew the e-mail conversations were inappropriate.

Texas Teacher Accused Of Sex With Student Makes Court Appearance

(January 10, 2008)—Shannon Kay Hrozek, 42, made a court appearance Wednesday in Houston. She’s charged with sexual abuse of a child in an incident involving a 16-year-old male student.

Hrozek, who teaches 10th grade English at Westfield High School in the Spring ISD, made no comment as she left court Wednesday morning accompanied by her parents and a minister.

She has been suspended with pay.

According to court records, an assistant principal entered her classroom after school last Thursday and found her performing oral sex on the boy.

The teenager said she had told him to come back to the classroom after school.

A janitor who noticed that the teacher and the student were in the room with the lights off notified the assistant principal, court records showed.

Horzek remains free on $50,000 bond.

It’s the third incident in the last four months in which Spring ISD teachers have been charged with having sex with students.

Last month another Westfield High teacher, Carlos Valencia, was accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student on campus.

In October, Duett Middle School teacher Alison Mosbeck was charged with having an ongoing relationship with a student.

Dance Teacher May Have Conceived Child With Student

Paternity test results on the baby of a local dance instructor who allegedly had an affair with a 13-year-old boy are in.

However, the judge in the case said those results will remain sealed.

Sandra Borrego, 41-year-old, is accused of having more than 20 sexual encounters with her student back in 2006.

Police believe the 13-year-old could be the father of Borrego's 6-month-old baby.

Judge Jose Longoria now has the DNA results, but he said they will remain sealed and he will not comment on the pending case.

36-year-old Jennifer Bagley was sentenced to 10 years probation by Judge Jack Skeen.

Bagley plead guilty to assaulting a 16-year-old Bullard High School Student. When released from serving a six month jail term Bagley will have to register as a sex offender.

A Central Florida teacher was arrested Friday, accused by authorities of having a sexual relationship with one of her students.

Sarah Elizabeth Joel, a teacher at Narcoosee School in Osceola County, was charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious battery.

Osceola County sheriff's detectives said an investigation began on Friday when a teacher at Harmony High School told deputies that one of her students was suspected of having a sexual relationship with his former teacher.

The student indicated he was an eighth-grade student last year at Narcoosee School and Joel was his teacher, deputies said. Joel and the student formed a relationship, which developed into a sexual relationship late last year, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

Joel is currently a teacher at Narcoosee School.

Detectives interviewed both the student and teacher and both of them cooperated with the investigation, deputies said.

Joel was booked into the Osceola County Jail with no bond.

JANUARY 30--A Mississippi teacher admitted to cops that she had sex with a 15-year-old male student to whom she sent explicit text messages and trysted with in her Jaguar, which bore the license plate "GRRRRR."

Those are just some of the sleazy details in a Biloxi Police Department report detailing Rebecca Dawn Bogard's alleged sexual assault of the boy, who the 27-year-old educator taught at the Biloxi Alternative School (which is described in the January 18 report as a school for troubled teens).

According to the document, Bogard referred to the teenager as "her little 'sex fiend'" in one text message. Investigators were contacted by the boy's mother after she discovered raunchy messages on the boy's phone, including one from a "Dawn" who wrote, "I love you, yeah it was the best, which night was the best 4 you, I'm sensitive but not sore, you were good..."

Bogard, pictured in the mug shot at right, is facing felony sexual battery charges. She has been suspended with pay and is free on $50,000 bail.

Rebecca Dawn Bogard, a teacher in Biloxi, MS, admitted to police she had sexual relations with the 15-year-old, according to court documents Wednesday. Bogard referred to the teenager as her "little sex fiend".

Bogard was charged with sexual battery of a teenage male student Jan. 18, and released on $50,000 bond. She was suspended by the Biloxi School District with pay Jan. 23.

Bogard waived her right to a preliminary hearing where underlying facts of the case are made public.

The legal age of consent for sex in Mississippi is 16, or 18 if the other person is in a position of authority or trust. A school teacher is in a position of authority or trust, according to state law. Sexual battery is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

The juvenile's mother found sexually explicit text messages from "Dawn."

The mother also learned her son had lost his job at a sandwich shop for taking extended breaks with a woman fitting Bogard's description who was driving a car that fit the description of Bogard's Jaguar, which has the vanity license plate "GRRRRR."

According to the mother, additional text messages from Bogard's cell phone indicated she wanted to meet with the juvenile and follow-up texts indicated the two had had sex.

According to court documents, Bogard admitted to having sex at least three times with the students, all of which were in Bogard's car.

The Biloxi teacher accused of sexual battery of one of her students resigned Wednesday, Superintendent Paul Tisdale said.

Rebecca Dawn Bogard, 27, was a teacher at Biloxi's alternative school when police arrested her Jan. 18 on sexual battery charges. The school district suspended her with pay on Jan. 23.

In court documents released earlier this week and first reported by the Sun Herald, Bogard admitted to police that she had sex with a 15-year-old student. The legal age of consent for sex in Mississippi is 16, or 18 if the other person is in a position of authority or trust. A school teacher is considered a position of authority or trust, according to state law.

Boy Claims Teacher Made Him Witness Classmate's Rape

A second student has come forward and filed a lawsuit against a Delaware school district and a convicted child rapist who used to work there.

The teen victim said teacher Rachel Holt sexually abused him when she was a sixth grade teacher at Brandywine School District in New Castle County in March 2006, according to a news release from the victim's lawyer.

The suit is also against former Superintendent Bruce Harter.

According to the release, the victim was sexually assaulted while at Holt's apartment from March 24 to March 26. During the same time, Holt allegedly raped the victim's classmate several times, the release stated.

The victim's lawyer said Holt allegedly provided alcohol, "tried to seduce him, touched him sexually and, to sexually arouse him, allowed him to watch her raping his classmate."

Holt was charged with 28 counts of first-degree rape by the New Castle County Police Department and pleaded guilty on Jan. 22, 2007 to one count of second-degree rape.

In March 2007, Judge Calvin L. Scott of the Delaware Superior Court sentenced Holt to 10 years in prison.

The lawsuit charges that Brandywine School District failed to do a proper background check when hiring Holt, as she had been employed at four different schools in five years, which lawyers say should have raised a red flag.

The lawsuit further charges that for months prior to the sexual abuse, the Board of Education and its agents had received multiple reports of Holt's inappropriate conduct from volunteers, Claymont Elementary school officials and employees, including reports of Holt kissing students, sitting in students' laps in the classroom and dancing on classroom tables.

The victim's lawyer said the District recklessly ignored these reports of misbehavior and failed to warn parents or students of the dangers Holt posed, in disregard for the obvious risks of harm to any child who came into contact with her.

The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages.

"The facts of this case show that this teacher was a serial predator who should have been stopped by the administration of the Brandywine School District before she was able to sexually abuse two of its students," attorney Thomas S. Neuberger said.

Still smiling, Ragusa enters not-guilty plea

TAMPA – A Hillsborough County teacher accused of having sex with at least two underage students was still smiling when she was arraigned before a judge on Monday morning, and she entered a not-guilty plea in connection to the newest charges against her.

Despite the charges against her, Stephanie Ragusa smiled when she appeared before Judge J. Rogers Padgett to be formally charged. She also entered a plea of not guilty in two of the four cases she's been accused in.

Investigators say Ragusa had sexual relationships with at least two underage boys. She was first arrested in March on charges she allegedly had sex with a 14-year-old boy, and more recently she was accused of having relationship with a 15-year-old boy.

She was arrested twice— once on April 15 and again on April 28— in connection to her alleged involvement with the second victim.

Ragusa's appearance in court on Monday was in connection to the alleged relationship with the second victim, who has since turned 16.

Prosecutors say Ragusa allegedly had sex with the first victim several times between October 2006 and May 2007. They say she and the second victim had sex at various times between February 2007 and March 10, 2008.

After that, they say Ragusa continued to have sex with the second boy while she was out of jail on bond in the previous two arrests, and detectives say the third arrest came after she was caught at that same boy's home.

Ragusa is being held without bond in the Hillsborough County Jail. A new disposition date has been set for July 15.

Police: Teacher Had Sexual Relationship With Student

MARGATE, Fla. -- A 38-year-old teacher was arrested Friday, accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student for more than a year.

Christine Jouini is charged with three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. She is an 11th and 12th grade teacher at The Center Academy, a private school in Coral Springs.

According to police, detectives began an investigation after the student recently confided to another teacher he had a sexual relationship with Jouini when he was 16. That teacher notified the state's child abuse hot line in compliance with ch
ild abuse reporting guidelines.

Police said Jouini was involved with the student from August 2006 to September 2007. Police said the student had sex with Jouini on multiple occasions off campus and at her home in Margate.

During the investigation, detectives said they met with several witnesses who saw Jouini and the student together away from school and at Jouini's home.

A warrant was issued for Jouini's arrest. She turned herself in to the Margate Police Department without incident.

Female Teacher, 60, Had Sex With Boys, Police Say

PALM BAY, Fla. -- A 60-year-old teacher is accused of having sex with young boys, including an encounter with a student and another teen at the same time.

Adrienne Laflamme, a Brevard Public School employee taught a 17-year-old student this summer, investigators said.

After the teen was released from school, Laflamme contacted the boy and began a sexual relationship with him, police said.

They had sex at least 15 times, including an encounter where another teen boy participated, the report said.

"This woman's actions are an absolute disgrace," Detective Jasmine Campbell said.

Detectives also said Laflamme let a boy use her vehicle wh
en she went on vacation.

When she realized she was under investigation, she falsely reported that her vehicle had been stolen, police said.

Laflamme was charged with 15 counts of unlawful sex with minors and one count of filing a false police report.

There may be other victims in connection with the case, officers said.

Turns out the old bag was a science teacher at the Brevard County Juvenile Detention Center, so the chances of coalburning adding more depth to the depravity is extremely high.

Woman faces charges of having sex with boy

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A Springfield day-care worker and teacher pleads not guilty to raping and sodomizing a boy over a two-year period, starting when he was 8 years old.

Laura Kirkland was jailed late Thursday on $75,000 bond after entering the plea in Greene County District Court. She's charged with two counts of statutory sodomy with a person less than 14 years old and one count of statutory rape with a person less than 14 years old.

Authorities say the boy told investigators this week that the 25-year-old Kirkland repeatedly assaulted him while she baby-sat him. He said she made him touch her, performed oral sex on him and had intercourse with him at her home from the time was eight until he was 10
years old.

He is now 11.

Kirkland worked at a day-care and taught fifth grade at a Christian school.

25-year-old, Laura Kirkland was a fifth grade teacher at the Christian School of Springfield.

It's Pastor said - "We are just absolutely devastated by the news of this and just trying to wrap our brains and hearts around this."

DELRAN, N.J. -- A former female substitute teacher in New Jersey is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy she met in school.

Angela Stellwag, 24, of Delran faces 10 years in prison if she's convicteed of having sex with a minor. Stellwag had worked for the Riverside school district in Burlington County.

Also, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports she is the daughter of Delran's mayor, Joseph Stellwag.

Stellwag surrendered to authorities Friday. Authorities said she met the boy when she was a substitute teacher in
Beverly City in 2003, but that the relationship became sexual last August at the defendant's apartment in Delran.

Michael Riley, a lawyer representing the alleged victim and his family, said the teen is cooperating with prosecutors.

"You can't really tell on his face how it's going to turn out," Riley said. "It's not a victimless crime. Absolutely. There is a victim is this case, and a victim who's been profoundly hurt."

Stellwag is officially charged with sexual assault. She was released after posting $20,000 bail set by Superior Court Judge Marvin E. Schlosser.

Local Case Reflects National Stories

This latest case of sexual assault charges against a woman allegedly involved with a male student reflects three other national cases that have made the news in recent months.

Earlier this month, female teachers in Tennessee and Texas were charged with having sex with young boys.

Kathy Denise White, a high school teacher in Lumberton, Texas, was arrested
for allegedly having an ongoing sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy. She was indicted Tuesday on two counts of an improper relationship between an educator and a student.

And in McMinnville, Tenn., an elementary school teacher was charged with having sex with one of her students, a 13-year-old boy, at his home and at school.

Pamela Turner, 27, was charged Monday with 15 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and 13 counts of statutory rape for acts between November and January.

Lafave Case Status

Last year, similar allegations against a Florida teacher gained national attention.

In that case, Ocala, Fla., middle-school teacher Debra Lafave faces sexual assault charges for her alleged involvement with a male student.

Lafave's lawyer filed an insanity plea in December after police claimed Lafave was sleeping with a 14-year-old boy.

High School Athletic Trainer Arrested for Having Sex with Student

TUSTIN -- A female athletic trainer was arrested Friday for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a male student at Tustin High School, where she worked.

Hope Jacoby, 23, worked for a company the school hired to provide athletic trainers for students participating in various sports, according to Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Jim Amormino.

The boy in question was described only as being between 14 and 17 years old. Jacoby allegedly had sex with the boy over the past year at various places in Orange and Tustin and at her home in San Juan Capistrano.

Investigators say they believe Jacoby may have had inappropriate contact with other students at the school.

Jacoby was booked on Friday but released early Saturday after posting $100,000 bail.

A fifth grade teacher in Abington, Massachusetts is facing statutory rape charges after reportedly having sex with a minor more than 300 times.

Police arrested 29-year old Christine McCallum late last week after she was accused of having sex with a then 13-year-old boy.

The alleged victim is now 16.

Prosecutors say the teacher became so obsessed with the teen that she took away his cell phone after he got older and started talking to girls his own age.

McCallum, who is marr
ied, faces three charges of statutory rape.

She was released on $10,000 bond and ordered to stay away from the boy’s family.

McCallum was also ordered to wear an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet.

She has been placed on leave from her teaching job in Abington, Massachusetts.

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- A West Tennessee teacher has been charged with statutory rape by an authority figure of a 14 year-old boy.

Milan police say 35 year-old Melissa Dawn McCord, a special education teacher at West Carroll Elementary in Atwood, had sex and exchanged sexually explicit text messages with a 14 year-old boy.

Police arrested McCord Thursday. According to Jackson Sun, she also is charged with providing obscene materials to a minor, so
licitation of a minor and solicitation of a minor to observe sexual conduct.

The newspaper reported that the boy told police McCord preformed oral sex on him on two occasions at a city park.

According to the police report, McCord met the boy through her daughter, who was dating him.

McCord is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 11.

West Carroll Special School District Superintendent Eric Williams says McCord has been suspended without pay pending an internal investigation.

SAN DIEGO -- A South Bay elementary school teacher accused of carrying on a four-year sexual relationship with her underage godson, who was also one of her students, pleaded not guilty Friday to felony child molestation charges.

Carmina Erica Lopez, 32, surrendered to detectives at her Mission Hills home on Wednesday evening, said Chula Vista police spokesman Bernard Gonzales.

Lopez sat sideways in her seat and spoke softly during her arraignment in the courtroom of Judge H. Ronald Domnitz, who ordered her held on $2 million bail.

Lopez -- who has a 4-year-old son -- is charged with eight counts of committing a lewd act
on a child, but more charges could be coming, said Deputy District Attorney Leonard Trinh.

As it stands now, the defendant faces 19 years and four months in prison if convicted The prosecutor alleged that Lopez put her hand on the boy's private parts in the back of her car and did the same thing in her classroom.

Lopez is also accused of having sexual intercourse with the boy in her home, Trinh told the judge.

The alleged crimes began when the boy was 11 and Lopez was a sixth-grade teacher at Nestor Elementary School in Chula Vista, authorities said.

The defendant had since begun teaching at Sunnyslope Elementary in the Palm City district of San Diego. She has been placed on leave pending resolution of the charges against her.

County Child Protective Services officials told police of the now-15-year-old's allegation that Lopez had repeatedly forced him to have sex with her, starting in 2004 and continuing until last June.

Trinh said he met with
the alleged victim on Thursday, but wouldn't comment on how the boy was doing.

"We wish him the best in dealing with this," the prosecutor told reporters. "I don't know how he feels."

Domnitz scheduled a readiness conference for Feb. 11 and a preliminary hearing for Feb. 18.
