Posted: April 10, 2008 07:36 PM CDT

Amarillo police asking parents to talk to their children about strangers, after an apparent kidnapping attempt this morning at the 800th block of Wichita.

Police say a 13-year old girl told them a man in a green pick up asked her to to come over to his truck and he grabbed her.

Amarillo police say the suspect is an hispanic male, in his 20's, black hair, light complexion and possibly heavy set. They have interviewed a male suspect, but was he was released to border patrol.

Corporal Jerry Neufeld with Amarillo police department say incidents like these give parents a chance to discuss safety with their kids. "It's an unfortunate thing, but it can be a learning experience for other parents and their child to be aware of these things that do happen", Neufeld said.

Police say parents need to establish rules for their children when walking to and from school. They are encouraging children to walk in groups, avoiding alley ways, not taking short cuts and not talking to strangers.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Orlando police on Wednesday released a composite sketch of a man who they said broke into an apartment and attempted to molest a 12-year-old girl.

The man entered the apartment through a sliding-glass door on Tuesday at 1 a.m. at the Danube apartments on Danube Way, but it is not known if he forced entry or if the door was unlocked, police said.

A sign at the apartment complex says the property is monitored by surveillance cameras, but it is not known if the intruder was captured on video.

Local 6 News reporter Mike DeForest reported on Tuesday that apartment managers had no comment about the incident and told him to "go away."

MISSION VIEJO -- Officers in Orange County today are expected to hand out fliers in one Mission Viejo neighborhood where a man tried to kidnap a 5-year-old girl.

The girl and her 5-year-old cousin were playing in a courtyard of a condominium complex at 22864 Via Pimiento around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday when a man approached and told one of the girls he wanted to show her something, said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The man took the girl to another courtyard in the large complex, which was empty, while her cousin told her 60-year-old aunt, who was babysitting the girls, Amormino said.

The aunt ran outside, screaming and calling the girl's name and apparently scared the man off, Amormino said.

The man let go of the girl, who ran back to her aunt, unharmed.

The man fled and the aunt went inside to call police, who later went door-to-door in search of the suspect.

Investigators are looking for a clean-shaven Latrino in his 20s with short dark hair and wearing a black shirt and pants.

Authorities were also checking on the whereabouts of registered sex offenders in the area, Amormino said.
