Updated: 5:49 pm EDT September 29, 2009

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- The mother of a 10-year-old girl who was allegedly molested by a taxi cab driver spoke to Channel 2 Action News Tuesday.

A judge found probable cause to move forward with child molestation charges against the 43-year-old cab driver.

“I wanted to kill him.â┚¬

That’s what one mother thought the moment she heard the taxi driver she called to take her 10-year-old daughter to school was accused of molesting her on the way.

“They had to keep me calm because I was really about to take off looking for him,â┚¬ said the mother, who Channel 2 Action News chose not to identify.

Police charged Express Car Service taxi driver David Perez with child molestation.

The mother said what hurts the most is that she knew Perez well.

“I would say, ”’Can you send cab #40?’â┚¬ said the mom. “He would tell me about his granddaughter and his son having a baby.â┚¬

The mother said one day her daughter missed the school bus so she called for a cab. She said Perez picked up her daughter. Before they left the complex, the girl said Perez told her to get in the front seat.

The girl told police Perez then continually tried to touch her inappropriately.

“(He) basically tried to feel all on her body,â┚¬ said the girl’s mom.

Police said the 10-year-old girl eventually jumped out of the moving taxi, went to school, and told counselors. The school counselors called the police.

The girl and her mother have hired an attorney.

“I think that he should be locked up. I think he should be taught a lesson,â┚¬ said the girl’s mother.

Perez also faces sexual battery and enticing a child charges.

The mother said what hurts the most is that she knew Perez well.

HOUSTON -- A man tried to lure a ninth-grade Montgomery County student into his car after she got off a school bus, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.

Officials said it is the 10th time so far this year that Conroe ISD has had to send out a letter alerting parents about suspicious men approaching children.

The latest incident involved a Caney Creek High School student.

She told a guidance counselor that a man approached her and offered her a ride on Wednesday in the Deerwood subdivision.

Conroe Independent School District spokeswoman Kathy Clark said the offer was enough to urge the student to get to safety.

"She ignored him, ran home, and we feel like she did the right thing and she's safe to tell us about it," Clark said.

The student was not harmed.

Clark said the man was described as Hispanic, about 18 to 20 years old and driving a black four-door vehicle with chrome vents on the front fenders.

The Conroe ISD Police Department is investigating.

Suspect: Marco Julio Gonzales, 41

LOS ANGELES -- A sex offender has been arrested by Los Angeles Police, a year after allegedly offering a 12-year-old girl $100 for oral sex.

Marco Julio Gonzales, 41, was taken into custody Monday.

Police say that last year, he entered the William Mead Housing Project and propositioned the girl. She went home and told her mother about the offer, and they immediately called the police.

A description of Gonzales and his car have been circulating the area since the incident and neighbors have continually obtained more information about him when he returned to the housing project, from time to time.

Last week, a resident wrote down the suspect's license plates and the police made the arrest.

Gonzales is a registered sex offender who was previously charged with indecent exposure.

He now faces two misdemeanor charges for annoying a child under 14 and soliciting an act of prostitution.

Police say there is a good chance Gonzales has been in other neighborhoods as well. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Satanic Hispanic get 40 years for sexual violation of children

Sex offender gets 40-year term

January 20, 2010

A Mundelein man was sentenced to 40 years in prison Tuesday for sexually abusing four children who ranged in age from kindergarten to teenagers under 17.

Raul Cortez-Melo
, 31, pleaded guilty to the charges last July. While he was renting a room in a residence, he sexually abused the four girls who lived there. The abuse continued for several years, according to Assistant State's Attorney Jim Newman.

Raul Cortez-Melo

"Raul Cortez-Melo is probably a parent's worst nightmare," Newman said, asking Judge John Phillips to sentence Cortez-Melo to 45 years, the maximum under the terms of his plea deal.

Public defender Katherine Hatch argued for the minimum sentence, 18 years. She said Cortez-Melo was sexually abused as a child by both males and females. As a result of that abuse, he wrestled with depression and drinking issues, she said.

"He was abused himself -- he knew what it did and he still turned around and did it to four other children," Newman said.

Cortez-Melo asked for forgiveness in his statement to the court through an interpreter.

"I apologize and I am so sorry for what I have done...I really feel bad for all the wrong I did," Cortez-Melo said through a Spanish interpreter.

Phillips said he would recommend to state corrections officials that Cortez-Melo receive sex offender treatment while he serves his sentence.

The plea deal stipulates that Cortez-Melo must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, which means he will be in prison for 34 years.

Sketch released of man trying to lure girls

RANCHO SANTA FE — The Sheriff’s Department on Thursday released a composite sketch of a man suspected of trying to lure two girls to his pickup in Rancho Santa Fe twice on the same day last week

The girls, ages 10 and 11 years old, were playing in the driveway of a house on La Fremontia near Paseo Delicias about 11 a.m. last Friday when a man pulled up in a white work-style truck, waved at them and gestured for them to come to the truck, said sheriff’s Detective Randy Avila. They did not respond and went inside the house.

About 45 minutes later the girls rode their electric scooters into the village of Rancho Santa Fe. They were on their way home in the bike path going against traffic on Paseo Delicias when the man pulled over about 20 feet in front of them in the truck, smiled, waved and motioned for them to come over.

One of the girls used a cell phone to call her mother, who called authorities, and the man drove off, Avila said.

The man did not get out of the truck either time, Avila said.

He is described as Latino, about 30 to 50 years old, with a thick-trimmed mustache, closely cropped black hair with curls on top, wearing dark sunglasses, either round or aviator-type.

There were boxes, ladders and gardening tools in the truck bed, Avila said.
