Butch Cassidy he’s not!

Cops are on the hunt for the Big Apple’s worst bank robber, a man who struck out five times during a criminally embarrassing three-hour span earlier this week, authorities said.

Alex Garcia, 38, was caught on camera at several of the locations this past Monday passing a note to bank employees demanding cash before being forced to leave empty-handed when he realized he wasn’t being taken seriously.

The suspect walked into a Valley National Bank on Fifth Avenue and East 31st Street, where he slid the note to an employee around 1:45 p.m. The worker refused and Garcia ran out of the bank.

The same thing happened when he tried his luck at Capital One Bank on Park Avenue and East 58th Street around 2 p.m., cops said.

He ran down the block to an HSBC Bank, also on Park Avenue, and struck out there as well.

He also failed to get any money from a pair of Chase Banks, one on Lexington Avenue and one on East 86th Street, before finally giving up around 4:45 p.m.

Garcia’s cold streak came days after he made a lone successful score at an Apple Bank on 7th Avenue and West 31st Street on Dec. 1, where the note was taken seriously by an employee who turned over an undetermined amount of money, cops said.

Garcia is described as Hispanic, approximately 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds. He is bald and has hazel eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The FBI and Philadelphia police are seeking a man who fled empty-handed after trying to rob a credit union branch and then successfully robbed a bank some 25 minutes later.

Authorities say it happened Monday afternoon when the suspect walked into the Police and Fire Federal Credit Union branch at 901 Arch Street and handed the teller a note demanding cash.

But they say the man ran out of the building without getting any cash.

At about 2:45 p.m., investigators say the same man walked into the Citizens Bank branch at 1201 Spring Garden Street and handed the teller a similar note.

This time, authorities say, the teller turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect and he ran out of the bank.

Anyone with information is urged to call the FBI at 215-418-4000 or the Philadelphia Police Department.

A reward is being offered and tipsters can remain anonymous.

Forgetful Bank Robber Leaves Stolen Cash, Wallet in Cab: Police

Jamal-Goodwin1.jpg

Police say a Philadelphia man signed himself out of a Chester County drug and alcohol rehab center, took a cab to a nearby bank and robbed it using a note scribbled on his discharge papers.

Twenty-five-year-old Jamal Goodwin was arrested Tuesday and charged with robbery, theft and other offenses stemming from Monday's holdup at Malvern Federal Savings Bank.

Police say Goodwin took just over $5,000 in cash before fleeing in a Main Line Taxi cab.

Unfortunately for Goodwin, police say he left behind a gym bag containing $2,700 worth of the stolen money in the cab along with his wallet and driver's license. :p Also in the car were two sweatshirts that a bank teller said belonged to the robber. :p

It's unclear if Goodwin has an attorney who could comment.

A Manhattan bank robber made off with tens of thousands of dollars from a heist Friday — but cops tracked him down using a GPS device planted with the loot Friday, police sources said.

Duane Edward Moore, 58, was wearing a mask when he strolled into M&T Bank on Second Avenue and East 54th Street at 10:20 a.m., claimed to have a gun and demanded that a teller fill his gym bag with cash, police sources said.

“Don’t say anything. Give me the money!” he shouted, according to a police source.

A teller grabbed $41,000 from a vault and stuffed it into the bag — along with the tracking device, police source said.

The bandit bolted to the Lexington and 59th Street subway station, where he hopped on a 4, 5 or 6 train and rode it six stops uptown, police sources said. But he had no clue that cops were tracking his getaway in real time via GPS, police sources said.

Moore learned the heist was a lost cause when he climbed the stairs of the 116th Street Station toward Park Avenue an hour later — and was busted by cops nearby, sources said.

“He looked at us, we looked at him and we knew it was him,” said Inspector Joseph Courtesis, commanding officer of the NYPD’s Real Time Crime Center.

Police then searched the crook and found a .45 caliber handgun, police sources said.

Moore is now being “looked at” in connection to three other bank robberies in the city, including two on the Upper East Side and one in Queens, according to Deputy Inspector Joseph Kersting, commanding officer of the department’s Major Case Squad.

Cops were “in constant contact” over the suspect’s movements, he added.

They declined to go into more detail about how the GPS device worked.

Cops are reviewing surveillance footage to determine if Moore used the gun during robbery, a police source said.

Workers at M&T Bank declined to comment.

‘Armed & Dangerous’ Bank Robbers Sought In Philly
January 3, 2017 8:20 AM

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)– Philadelphia police and the FBI are asking for the public’s help with finding two men behind a string of bank robberies in the area over the past few weeks.

The most recent robbery happened Monday at a TD Bank branch on East Butler Street.

Police say the suspects entered the bank around 2 p.m. and demanded cash at gunpoint before leaving.

Authorities believe the same two men are responsible for two bank robberies on December 17th in Philadelphia, and a third in Upper Darby Township on December 23rd.

The first suspect is described as a black man in his early to mid-30s, approximately 5’10”-5’11” tall, medium complexion. He was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, black scarf or mask concealing the lower part of his face, black knit cap, and black pants. He carried a compact black semi-automatic handgun.

The second suspect is described as a black man in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 5’9″-5’11” tall, light complexion. He had on a light gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, a black scarf or mask concealing the lower part of his face, black gloves, and black pants.

These men are considered armed and dangerous.

A stand-off between cops and robbers during an in-progress bank heist in Queens sounds just like a bad movie script:

“Drop your gun!” the cop commands the robber.

“No, you drop YOUR gun!” the robber screams back with defiant resolve.

But that exchange — described by police and eye-witnesses — really happened at 9 a.m. Saturday, after two armed men in green surgical scrubs and masks tried to hold up the Chase Bank on Union Turnpike near 178th Street Fresh Meadows, police said.

“It was very surreal,” a responding officer recalled.

The men in medical masks used zip-ties to bind the wrists of two of the bank’s four weekend workers.

But one of the employees still managed to trigger an alarm.

Less than a minute later, two officers who were patrolling nearby stormed into the bank, even as the two robbers were waving their weapons and demanding money, police said.

“We were instructing [one of the robbers] to drop the weapon,” Officer Harris Correa, 42, a veteran of 16 years, recalled later.

“And he stated to us, ‘You drop the guns,’” Correa said.

After a one- or two-minutes of mutual pistol-pointing, the robber finally dropped his weapon, Correa said. Cops recovered the .45 caliber weapon.

“It’s something you see in a movie,” said Officer Keith Gordon, the other of the two arriving cops.

Except for one thing:

“It was real,” said Gordon, who’s been on the force for one-and-a-half years.

“The adrenaline was very real,” he added.

One of the robbers, Quaimme Davies, 35, was charged with robbery and criminal possession of a defaced weapon. His 39-year-old accomplice has not yet been charged.

Lincoln Stevens, a mobile technician from Queens Village, had a front row seat to the Hollywood-style bust.

“I was coming and a cop car came from behind with its lights on,” Stevens, 26, said. “I parked and got out to watch. [The cops] go in the bank, then the bank manager and teller come out with [their] hands tied. Fifteen cop cars come. A couple of [the cops] went in with their guns out. They took the suspects out.”

He continued: “Before you realized what was happening, it was over.”

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Authorities are searching for a man they say attempted to rob a Wells Fargo Bank, Monday.

It happened at the Wells Fargo branch in the 700 block of Adams Avenue, just before 11:30 a.m.

Police say the man handed a teller a note demanding money. However, the suspect fled the bank empty-handed.

He was last seen heading east on Adams Avenue.

Police say the suspect is believed to also be responsible for a robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank in the 2800 block of North Broad Street on March 7.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s to 40s, approximately six feet tall, thin build, with a salt and pepper goatee. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored winter jacket and black skull-cap.

Police say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about these robberies or this subject is urged to call the FBI/PPD Violent Crimes Task Force at 215-418-4000. There is a reward for information leading to this subject’s capture; tipsters can remain anonymous.

A wannabe bank robber tried to pull off a heist in Manhattan Saturday but got caught before making it out the door, police said.

The 25-year-old New Jersey resident  entered a Chase Bank on 8th avenue around 2pm, and handed a bank teller a note demanding money.

Luckily, some courageous bank employees were able to alert nearby cops assigned to the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group to the situation.

Rushing over, the cops witnessed the would-be robber still standing in front of the bank teller. They quickly ordered him to get on the ground and he was placed in handcuffs.

Sebastian Malik, who works across the street, told The Post cops were able to quickly get the situation under control.

“I went in to withdraw money. They lead him out as I was getting ready to walk out,” said Malik. “A guy in handcuffs with four police around him.”

The Jersey resident has yet to be charged.

A United Nations employee was busted for robbing four Manhattan banks — all during his lunch hour, authorities said.

Abdullahi Shuaibu, 53, was picked up by cops Monday and hit with two counts of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery for the crimes committed during his two-month spree.

All four banks are within walking distance of UN headquarters on First Ave. near E. 42nd St., where the Nigeria native works as a journalist for an African news agency, police said.

Authorities were led to the thief after a retired police officer who works at the facility recognized Shuaibu from a surveillance image previously released by the NYPD.

In the first incident, Shuaibu walked into a Santander Bank on Madison Ave. near E. 43rd St. on Feb. 27 and told the teller he had a gun. The bank employee complied and handed Shuaibu an unknown sum of money.

He hit two more banks during the month of March, first striking out at a Bank of America on Third Ave. near E. 47th St. on the 13th. He was successful in robbing a Santander Bank on Third Ave. and E. 63rd St. on the 27th.

During the most recent incident on Monday, Shuaibu walked into an HSBC on Third Ave. and E. 40th St. around 2:30 p.m. and passed a note demanding cash to the teller. The teller did not read the note and asked Shuaibu for identification.

He then instructed the employee to read the note, keeping his hand in his jacket pocket while simulating a gun, police said.

Police arrested him later in the day when he returned to the UN.

He ran away empty-handed.

Investigators say on April 20, the same man walked into the Beneficial Bank branch in the 1400 block of Rhawn Street, showed a demand note to a teller, and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

They say he fled in a black Germantown taxi cab.

A UN worker-turned-journalist has been indicted for robbing a string of banks on his lunch break, prosecutors announced Friday in Manhattan court.

Abullahi Shuaibu, 53, did not appear for the brief proceeding, and the exact charges were not revealed.

He allegedly targeted four banks beginning Feb. 27. The Nigerian national’s first mark was Santander Bank on Madison Avenue, where he slipped the teller a note that stated, “Give me $5,000 now. I have a gun. I will use it if you don not give me, I am very serious!”

The robber politely added, “Thanks for your understanding.”

On March 27, he handed over a note with the same message to a teller at a Santander Bank on Third Avenue and made off with another $5,000, the complaint states.

Shuaibu, who worked as a State Department-credentialed reporter for the PanAfrican News Agency, unsuccessfully tried to rip off two other banks, authorities said.

Cops arrested Shuaibu outside the US Mission to the United Nations, where he’s been working out of the building’s Foreign Press Center.

A security guard alerted authorities after recognizing Shuaibu in surveillance photos circulated by the NYPD, officials said.

The suspect is being held on $150,000 bond.

He’s throwing his hat into the ring as the Big Apple’s most wanted chapeau-wearing bank robber.

On the heels of the arrest of the ballcap-loving Coast to Coast bandit, police announced Thursday that they’re now on the hunt for another serial robber, who has so far successfully ripped off four Manhattan banks — each time wearing a series of different hats.

In each of the incidents, the suspect, who also wears sunglasses, passes a note to a teller demanding cash.

He last struck on Wednesday when he walked into a Chase Bank on Fifth Avenue in Harlem and passed a note to a male employee around 3:50 p.m.

The teller refused to cooperate and the suspect ran out empty-handed, police said.

The spree started on Jan. 28 when he walked into the same bank and successfully stole an undetermined amount of cash.

Since then, he had robbed several other banks in Harlem and other parts of Upper Manhattan, including one heist on Feb. 13 when he stole more than $3,000 from a Chase Bank on Broadway and W. 144th St. He struck out at three other banks, cops said.

The suspect is described as being in his 30s or 40s, police said.
