Cops are on the hunt for the Big Apple’s worst bank robber, a man who struck out five times during a criminally embarrassing three-hour span earlier this week, authorities said.
Alex Garcia, 38, was caught on camera at several of the locations this past Monday passing a note to bank employees demanding cash before being forced to leave empty-handed when he realized he wasn’t being taken seriously.
The suspect walked into a Valley National Bank on Fifth Avenue and East 31st Street, where he slid the note to an employee around 1:45 p.m. The worker refused and Garcia ran out of the bank.
The same thing happened when he tried his luck at Capital One Bank on Park Avenue and East 58th Street around 2 p.m., cops said.
He ran down the block to an HSBC Bank, also on Park Avenue, and struck out there as well.
He also failed to get any money from a pair of Chase Banks, one on Lexington Avenue and one on East 86th Street, before finally giving up around 4:45 p.m.
Garcia’s cold streak came days after he made a lone successful score at an Apple Bank on 7th Avenue and West 31st Street on Dec. 1, where the note was taken seriously by an employee who turned over an undetermined amount of money, cops said.
Garcia is described as Hispanic, approximately 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds. He is bald and has hazel eyes.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
